Unmoored
As a city child, I fell in love with the outdoors: freedom from boundaries, paths through the woods, sunny warm meadows, and slow-moving brooks with lots of small pools. What I treasured most were the small things I discovered along the paths: colorful petals, interesting leaves, and twigs, and odd-looking seeds. I loved the bright colors, odd shapes, and textures, and a certain ambiguity in appearance.
In this series, I have photographed objects found on daily walks during the year of covid-19 isolation. The backgrounds are a series of images I did of the creeks I crossed during these walks in the summer of 2020. In putting the two distinct images together, I imagine that I am once again setting these objects free to float with the wind or along the currents in the creek.
